2017

  • 1st Place Award into 32nd Annual Yosemite Renaissance Exhibition / Yosemite Museum, Yosemite CA - February 25 - April 30th; Opening Reception February 24th. Title: "New Yosemite", oil, 18"x36".

  • Acceptance into National Association Women Artists' show entitled: Women Artists Coast to Coast, EAST, February 28 - March 25, 2017 at Prince Street Gallery, 530 West 25th Ave, New York City, NY.

  • One of two judges/jurors in the upcoming Sacramento Fine Arts Center's show entitled: "Magna Opusi" competitive show. Summer 2017.

  • Judge of Valley Art Association Membership Show; Oakdale, CA, April 2017

  • Acceptance of three artworks into Ironstone Winery's Annual Spring Obsession Exhibition. One entitled: "Approaching Cloud" was given the Judges' Award of Merit. April-May.

  • Commissioned oil paintings (2) of  Turlock Ca residence, March 2016

  • Completion of the 6' x 8' original oil painting of an artists interpretation "Across the Valley" of our Central California valley, pre-1900's. Location of the artwork commissioned by Michael O'Brien DVM is located at the Beckwith Court, off HWY 99, Modesto CA. Open to the public during business hours, free admission.

 

2015
  • Carnegie Art Center, Turlock CA honored Chella of Modesto CA and a photographer, Dan Kasser of Lodi CA as two outstanding artists / art educators / advocates of the California Central Valley in the “Valley Focus” Exhibition; the dates of the show were January 28th to March 22, 2015. Over 30 artworks were shown by Chella which included all media, several styles and periods of her art career. Two artworks were sold during the show.

 

  • In February Chella judged the annual prestigious regional show “Expressions”, sponsored by The Tracy Art Association, Tracy CA

 

  • “Winter Morn”, a 5"x15" oil of the valley’s famous Mapes Ranch, was a commissioned piece completed in March.

 

  • Chella was the featured demonstrator/speaker at the monthly meeting of the Valley Art Association, Riverbank CA.
    Three different watercolor techniques were introduced to the members.

 

  • An ‘en plein aire’ small oil painting “Cherries” was sold to a collector from her studio.

 

  • The National League of Americann Pen Women’s show “Inspiring Women: an Exhibit of Arts & Letters” (February 11 – June 7), was held at the Carnegie Art Center, Turlock CA with a reception showing artworks and readings of poetry and prose pieces on March 1, 2015. Chella exhibited three artworks, (one patriotic monoprint that sold, one ‘en plein aire’ work and one interpretive figurative work).

 

  • During the month of April three of Chella’s were accepted into two regional shows; 2015 Annual Lodi Art Center Spring Show, held at the Robert Mondavi – Woodbridge Winery, Lodi CA “The Second Annual Central California Arts Showcase which was held at the Carnegie Art Center, Turlock CA and Central California Art Association/Mistlin Gallery, Modesto CA from April 1 – May 8 2015. Works accepted were respectively: “Fog on Carmel River” a 6"x8" en plein air oil and “Self Portrait”, 10"x 10" oil, and “America’s Tragedy”, a 16"x 20" non-objective oil.

 

  • In May, “Pumpkins”, a 11"x 14" plein air oil painting, featured on the cover of the Fall Issue Pen Women magazine of the National League of American Pen Women was sold to a Colorado an art collector.

 

  • In the month of June 2015, Chella’s artist book was shown in the invitational show entitled: “12 Artists and 12 artists” hosted by the Peer Recovery Center on J Street, Modesto CA along with her decorated cane that was sold to benefit the Center.

 

  • Also, in June, two paintings “Young Almonds” shown on my website, a 9"x12" plein aire oil and “Californian State Fair Tractor” 8"x10" plein aire were selected to be displayed at the California State Capital Building as part of the Annual Contemporary Art Collection Show. Each senator selects artwork that illustrates his or her particular part of the state. Cathleen Gagliani of District 5 selected these two rural farming scenes.

 

  • At the annual fundraising social event of the season, “Garden Party” sponsored by the Greenery in Turlock and the Carnegie Art Center, Chella displayed two paintings of eucalyptus trees.

 

  • The Annual California Landscape Exhibition held at the John Natsoulas Gallery, Davis CA will show three works by Chella. One entitled “Landswept” a plein air 9"x 12" oil of the La Grange rural area which is published in the show’s catalogue and two larger acrylic studio paintings, both enlargements of small plein air pieces, are titled “Nuts. “Nuts” and “Dry Corn” will be shown until late August. 

2014
  • “Pumpkins”, ‘en plein aire’ oil painting was published as the Art Work of the October 31st Week on the National League of American Pen Women website. The painting was a recent accepted piece into the NLAPW Biannual Exhibition, Washington DC
